My Education

 

Yoga became a part of my life several years ago when I discovered Yoga to be an excellent source of stress management and exercise. When I realized how amazing I felt after Yoga, I realized that it wasn't just the practice, but the instructor that was responsible for the glow I felt inside. I wanted to be able to share how I felt with others. I decided to become a yoga instructor  in an immersion program in Maui. 

The first step to becoming a Yoga Instructor is taking the 200YTT (200 hour Yoga Teacher Training) Certification. I attended the Maui Yoga Shala is on the beautiful island of Maui This intensive course included daily philosophy lessons, meditations guidance, asana technique, and Asana safety. Safety is an extremely important part of every practice.

I returned home to California ready to begin a teaching career and after a couple of years of teaching, I realized I was ready to take my practice and teaching skills to the next level. I was fortunate enough to find Cloud Nine Yoga School Founder, Erika Calig. When I met Erika, I knew immediately that I needed to study with her. I knew I could learn so much from her as an instructor and I'm so proud to continue today with her as my mentor and my friend.  I completed the 300YTT Certification and upon completing this course, I am now an Advance Yoga Instructor, or a RYT500 (Registered Yoga Teacher with 500+ hours of training). 

I began an intensive study of anatomy and postures to be able to teach Mat Pilates. Mat Pilates is a great practice to strengthen and tone the back, core, and the legs. My lower back felt a dramatic improvement from doing pilates three times per week. I began teaching Pilates in 2021. It's become an important part of my fitness routine. 

My next goal after receiving my advanced certification was to become a Yoga Trainer. To become a Yoga Teacher Trainer, I needed 2,000 hours of teaching behind me, which makes me an ERYT500, (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher Trainer).  Now, I can lead Yoga Teacher Trainings to certify students who would like to become teachers. I'm also leading online Yoga Teacher Trainings. I'm thrilled for this next journey and can't wait to share it with anyone who is interested in becoming a Yoga Instructor or would like to deepen their own practice. The practice of Yoga truly serves the soul, the mind and the body.  Join me on a journey to begin your yoga journey!

Vision

When I decided to become a yoga instructor, it was after I had taken a transformative meditation and yoga class that took me far away from anything that was weighing on my mind.  When that session ended, I decided it was time to learn how to share this possibility with others. I have always experienced moderate to sever anxiety and Yoga became a way for me to manage my own. Finding this practice has changed my lifestyle and helped me to find perspective. 

Now, I have the opportunity to share this passion with others as they begin their journey to become Yoga instructors. Cloud Nine Yoga School as been teaching teachers for 25+ years. Iam honored to join the Cloud Nine Yoga School as a Yoga Trainer. 

 

 

 

Goal

My first goal is to teach, encourage and mentor anyone who wishes to become a Yoga Teacher. Our Cloud Nine "Edu-Vacations" offer a wonderful foundation of Yoga Teaching skills, hisotry, philsophy, meditation and much more. Click here to see the next training.

My second goal is to share yoga with any one who is interesterested in learning. Yoga is a practice to unite the mind and body. The benefits are endless. You can use Yoga to relieve anxiety and stress, center the mind, fitness, flexibility or all of the above. 

 

My third goal is share the beauty of what Pilates can do for the body. Pilates is a full body workout strengthening the arms, back, legs, and the core. The core and the back will always require strenghth. When I started to experience lower back pain, I was led to Pilates. Since starting Pilates, I have noticed a huge difference in my back strength and my pain has disappeared.  As we age, keeping this area strong or building strength will prevent injuries. As a bonus, it also tones the core, back, arms, and legs!
